SCOPE - This must be about something bigger than the Republican Party. Oregon is facing an extinction level crisis. We must see in our minds where Oregon needs to go and build the Republican Party into a vehicle that will take us there.
TARGET - It is true that there are many more registered Democrats than Republicans across Oregon. But, it's moreover true that there are more non-affiliated voters than there are Democrats. Most of these lean conservative or are “blue dog” liberals. A very large group of them are persuadable voters. Many of whom live in "swing districts" where contestable races for legislative races take place. We need to speak to those voters in those districts.
FOCUS - Finding Center Balance. As a younger man studying Kung Fu many years ago, I learned two very valuable lessons. My Kung Fu Master would often say to me, "its about Balance and Coordination, Jerry, without those two things you can forget Martial Arts and stay in bed". In our messaging and our mobilization those are the two things that are often missing. We need to start listening to our neighbors twice as much as we speak. They will tell us what are the issues that will determine which party they trust with their families' future. Balance means that we come to terms with the reality that not everyone agrees with us on every issue. But, that none of our ideas become law or policy until we get Republican candidates elected. So, let's focus on balancing our core principles with the real and present danger of the Leftist Threat to Oregon's survival. There are a lot of Non-Affiliated and registered Democrat voters who agree with us on the economic and anti-crime issues that confront us. We need to coordinate our messaging with the caucuses, candidates, and conservative organizations in a way that speaks to persuadable voters on issues they already agree with us on.
STRATEGY: Targeting 2030 – We need to make gains in 2026 and 2028; and we need to build our party infrastructure in a way to maximize our opportunities under the new campaign finance laws starting in 2027; but it is imperative that we take control of the Oregon House and Senate by 2030. It will be our next chance to undo the gerrymandering that we have suffered under since 2000. The 2030 legislature will redraw Oregon's house and senate districts. During these next two years our focus needs to be on rebuilding the party infrastructure. Offering training to county chairs, vice-chairs, and PCPs well ahead of the general election in 2026. We need to build out our organizational structure once more with an executive director, political director, and communications director to assist county and congressional district parties around the state. It should be our focus in the two years to create in every county a 100-200 person volunteer party (in larger counties even more) that is trained, drilled, and ready to fight in the trenches in the final weeks of the election cycle. And in 2028, we need to do it all again and get even stronger. Under no circumstances can we allow the Democrat leftist mob to keep control through 2030 and stack the deck even further against us. We must not "yield" the four largest counties in our state to the Democrats without a fight. We don't have to "win" Multnomah County to "win in" Multnomah by cutting the Democrat lead enough to give the rest of the state a fighting chance to compete. We must come alongside our friends in those "big four" counties and help them "build a wall" against corruption when the elections are closing in.
